I went to Oswestry, Shropshire today checking on the reported sighting by Karl Briggs in 1989 of a PCW at the Old Grammar School. This is now a heritage centre and the curator had no knowledge of any Winged Wheel, but did have a recollection of another one about quarter mile away. Sure enough there was, see attached picture taken at dusk
In the late 19th & early 20th century this building housed the Oswestry High School. It was then taken over for many years by Gittins, purveyors of a variety of hardware, most notably cycles. This cast iron plaque clearly originates from that period. As a listed building, it seems the plaque's future is secure.
