The sign in Ormskirk is long since gone, but I found a reference to it in the Ormskirk library.
..a little further down the right hand side of the street notice the circular sign beside the doorway of 44 Burscough St. (W.S.Forshaw). This is the Winged Wheel emblem of the Cyclists Touring Club which flourished in the first half of this century.
Before the First World War, 44 & 44A Burscough St. was the site of A.J.Burgess’s cycle shop. The Wheeleries, which made its own Burgess Cycle.
This building, ‘Derby Chambers’ is typically elaborate late Victorian architecture. Its name is depicted in Red brickwork near the roofline.

Victoria Hotel, (now The Venue), Wallgate, Wigan.
Originally Reported by Karl Briggs 1992
The Victoria Hotel is now what appears to be a night club, and the colour, ugh, but the sign is still there, albeit painted over, what really interested me was the triangular sign to the left of the door which said 'Road and Path Cycling Association’, I haven't come across this one before.

Click to read “Wigan Town Trail” with reference to these two signs taken from the Wigan Town website (still on the site but link broken).
